How much brighter are Morimoto XB LED headlights for 2020, 2021, and 2022 Ford Super duty OEM LED headlights?

In summary, they are indeed 96% smarter!

The new Ford Super duty's stock halogen reflector headlights are known to be less brilliant than the Morimoto XB LED projector headlights. But what about the high-end, enhanced LED headlights that are included with the Platinum and Limited editions of the truck? You may be wondering if purchasing a Ford F250, F350, or F450 in 2020, 2021, or 2022 is worthwhile.

OEM Ford Super duty LED headlights low beam: 770 maximum Lux

The 2021 Ford F450's factory LED headlights are visible in the image above. Without any outside light to distort the readings, we used a digital Lux meter to measure them, placing the headlight's face 25 feet from a flat wall. These standard headlights had a maximum brightness of 770 Lux.

The Morimoto XB LED headlights for the 2020+ Super duty are shown here, with the low beam in the same spot and tested simultaneously. Their maximum Lux was 1,510. This indicates that these are 96% brighter than the stock LED headlights, which are already highly bright!

Morimoto XB Ford Super duty LED Headlights low beam: 1,510 maximum Lux

As seen in the image above, the Morimoto XB LED projector headlights are significantly brighter than standard and provide a more high-performance beam pattern typical of contemporary premium cars.

Let us now return to the first headlights and switch them to high beam:

OEM Ford Super duty LED headlights high beam: 1,810 maximum lux

Although the beam pattern height is unexpectedly low, these original headlights are brilliant and provide a lot more down-range distance than the low beam.

Examine the Morimoto high beam now:

Although the Morimoto XB headlights are nearly as bright as stock, their beam pattern offers much more height, which is useful in a variety of driving scenarios.

As of this writing, the Morimoto XB LED headlights are incompatible with OEM LED vehicles because they cause the dash turn signal arrow to flash excessively and the high beam to stop working until you wire up your switch. Since these are excellent headlights and worth the hassles to achieve that look and low beam performance, those things are not deal breakers.
