HOW TO INSTALL HID HEADLIGHTS IN A 2006+ DODGE CHARGER
The latest Dodge Chargers (from 2006+) dislike HID lights. Their headlights and other lighting circuits are monitored and controlled by an inbuilt digital controller known as HAL. If HAL is unable to determine the precise resistance and wattage derived from standard headlight bulbs, it initiates a diagnostic process that sends electrical pulses to the headlights.
This is how it flashes the voltage until it sees the correct readings. One of two options is available to circumvent this and install a HID conversion kit in the low beam:
1. Go ahead and install the new 35w GEN 3 HID Ballast from GTR Lighting. The new GEN 3 ballast has excellent internal components like never before, and it works with Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep cars without the need for additional parts.
2. Install the additional components to fool the computer into believing you are using a stock halogen lightbulb. First, install a relay harness (9005/9006 style) activated by the wiring for the low-beam headlights. Next, connect the positive and negative wires of the relay harness to the OEM low-beam headlamp wiring in parallel with a 470uF capacitor.
