How to Take the Doors Off Your Jeep Wrangler
As summer draws near, many owners of Jeep Wranglers intend to take off the tops. One of the many advantages of having a Jeep Wrangler is the flexibility to do this, but you can go one step further by removing the doors. Read on to learn how to remove the doors from your Jeep Wrangler if you're interested.
Step 1: Have the Proper Tools
If you own a Jeep Wrangler and wish to remove the doors, you will need the right tools. A pair of torque wrenches is required to remove a Wrangler's doors. A set of torque wrenches is an extra bonus because you can take everything out of your Wrangler with them.
Step 2: Remove the Lock Nut
The next step is to use the torque wrench to remove the lock nut underneath the Jeep Wrangler door hinges. After you loosen the lock screw on the door hinge, you can manually twist it. The locknuts on your Wrangler door are meant to deter theft, so keep them in a safe place for when you decide to reinstall your doors.
Step 3: Unplug the Power Switch
The power switch for the door locks and windows must now be unplugged. Before you turn off the power, be sure your window is completely down. Pulling off and grabbing the door will be more straightforward as a result.
Step 4: Remove the Strap
The next step is to go inside your Jeep Wrangler and to the inside of your door after unplugging the power switch. You must first unhook the strap on the bottom right of the door before removing it entirely.
Step 5: Remove the Door
You will be able to take the door off of your Jeep Wrangler after you have finished the first four stages. With one hand on the side and one on the bottom, push the door up and out to remove it safely. For the remaining doors, use the same procedure and locate a secure location to store them.
