ROAD GLIDE® REVOLUTION

ROAD GLIDE® REVOLUTION
As new motorcycles are introduced, the fittings keep evolving. The Road Glide® Revolution for Ledlightjeep entails new LED lighting options, upgrades, and motorcycle accessories!
ROAD GLIDE® ROOTS
The Road Glide® (FLTR) has been in production for 20 years with the debut of the 2018 Harley Davidson® model! The model family has amassed a sizable following and acquired notoriety since they first appeared on the streets in 1998. Harley-Davidson® Touring models account for most sales every year, but the Road Glide® provided something special.
In 1998, the FLTR was introduced. It is mainly based on its predecessor, the Tour Glide (FLT). The FLTR had a different front fairing than the Electra Glide, although it shared the same frame and motor assembly.
WHY ROAD GLIDE®?
The Road Glide® features a frame-mounted fairing known as the “Shark Nose.” Because the fairing is fixed to the frame, it remains in place when the handlebar is turned. Although it takes some time, Road Glide® riders prefer the fixed fairing because of its handling and wind protection. The Road Glide® design also provides extra space for riding because the handlebars are closer to the rider, and the fairing is farther away.
Over time, Harley Davidson® has added more Road Glides to its lineup. The Road Glide® Custom (FLTRX) and Road Glide® Ultra (FLTRU) were unveiled in 2010. Over the previous 20 years, other Road Glide® CVOTM versions have also been introduced, the most recent of which was the 2018 model.
ROAD GLIDE® REVIVAL
The Road Glide® underwent a revision in 2015. A shorter, more elongated body shape with a 1.4-inch narrower front wheel and front fairing was introduced in the 2015 model year.
FLTRX (right) and FLTRU (left) in 2013. The first significant alteration to the inner and outer fairing since 1998 was the 2015 Shark Nose makeover, which made the design sleeker.
ROAD GLIDE® RETAIL
Demand for aftermarket accessories, such as our motorbike LED lighting solutions for H-DTM, increased due to higher sales. Finding lighting for the distinctive Shark Nose fairings was particularly challenging. Due to the change, a product compatible with a 2013 Road Glide® model probably wasn’t compatible with the 2015 Road Glide® fairing. The Harley-Davidson® handbook for the 2015–2018 Road Glide® models states that the headlamp lacks replacement bulbs. When it fails, the complete assembly needs to be replaced.
Owners of Road Glide® models manufactured between 2015 and 2018 no longer have alternatives for aftermarket LED headlights. For 2015–2018 Road Glide® models, the newest Ledlightjeep TruBEAM® Motorcycle LED Headlamp is now plug-and-play compatible!
A new industry for aftermarket accessories was established with the 2015 makeover. Manufacturers then started working on new products. For the ‘15-’18 Road Glide® models, several goods and applications are now available based on the intended impact.
TRUBEAM® HEADLAMP
The high-end TruBEAM® Motorcycle LED Headlamp features four low-beam and four high-beam LEDs (5800K Color Temperature) with integrated halo rings surrounding each headlamp. The integrated halos serve as a White DRL with an Auxiliary Amber Turn signal function to further improve visibility.
The TruBEAM® LED Headlamp’s compliance with DOT FMVSS Specifications is a crucial factor to consider. In actuality, many aftermarket headlight bulbs lack DOT certification.
3200 Raw Lumens (31.2 Watts @ 12VDC) for the low beam and 3100 Raw Lumens (28.8 Watts @ 12VDC) for the high beam.
Both chrome and black chrome reflectors are offered for the TruBEAM®, which has a polycarbonate lens. A lifetime warranty against LED failure is another benefit of purchasing a TruBEAM® LED headlamp from Ledlightjeep.
WHY TRUBEAM®?
The high-end TruBEAM® LED Headlamp uses projection and reflection LED technology to provide a sophisticated reflector design. This design delivers a better beam pattern regarding coverage and distance and increased visibility around curves.
Reflector headlamps make it far more challenging to manage the light because they reflect off a reflector and out in various directions. Intense hot spots and weak spots can be seen in the beam pattern due to the light’s uneven distribution at multiple angles. A lot of light is created, but it needs to be directed correctly. INSTALLATION
With just one headlight unit required per bike, the TruBEAM® LED headlight is plug-and-play. The only company currently selling an aftermarket LED headlamp that fits these 2015–2018 Road Glide® models is Ledlightjeep.
The installation process is smooth. First, remove the factory vent, windshield, and stock windshield bolts. The screws that hold the outer and inner fairings together will then be taken out. The speaker grilles then need to be removed. The outer and inner fairings can be separated when the bolts are removed.
Remove and set aside the outer fairing. When the OEM headlamp is removed, the TruBEAM® Headlamp connects to the factory plug. An auxiliary amber turn signal wires the integrated LED halo to operate as a white DRL. The TruBEAM® Headlamp’s cables are then attached to a pass-through electrical harness. The LED headlight comes with this!
Reinstall the windshield, factory vent, speaker grilles, and outer fairing. After a final BCM Sync, your new TruBEAM® Road Glide® LED Headlamp is ready for use! Watch our videos on installing LED lighting on motorcycles! Or, improve your motorcycle’s LED illumination with tech assistance!
